Poetry by Shiny✨🩵 "South Now"
Dear Readers, ♥️
When I was growing up, I’d always cry when we left the beach and started driving North. I would tell my parents that someday, I’d have a house in North Carolina.
I forgot about that dream a long time ago.
But after everything that happened, that dream came back, and then it came true.
And now, I like how I feel when I’m driving South.
Love,
Shiny ✨
South Now July 10 I love the way I feel here. I like how deeply I sleep. I like the mellow evenings, and the buzzing in the trees. I like how the sky is mostly blue. I like the air when it rains. I like the hazy look of the moon. and the distant sound of the train. I like how the clouds are nostalgic. I love how the pine brush smells. I like how the mornings are misty, and the stories people tell. Sometimes there’s a chorus from all the neighborhood dogs, other nights, a call and response among a group of frogs. Some nights I may be lonely, other times, I just feel free; but no matter how I’m feeling here, I always feel like me.
